Benefits of a Facial

Why Get a Facial ?

To many, getting a facial seems like a decadent luxury that’s beyond budgets and lifestyles to be considered essential or is something that they don’t need (e.g. there’s nothing “wrong” with my skin). So, in support of facials, here are some reasons why getting a facial is more important than you think.

  1. Tricks of the trade: Skin care professionals (estheticians) use "professional strength products". These are products that contain active ingredients in percentages that you cannot purchase over the counter. Combining these products with the techniques used by a skilled therapist, and there are multiple benefits that can be evident from receiving a routine facial. From unclogging, and achieving smaller, more refined pores, to looking younger and even managing various skin disorders, there are multiple benefits to a regular facial.

  2. Deeper Cleansing: There's no real alternative for the deep cleansing, exfoliation and hydration only a facial can provide. Attempting to perform extractions at home can be ineffective and cause permanent scarring. Think of getting a facial as analogous to going to the dentist for a routine cleaning. Brushing at home is necessary, but you rely on a professional for the deep cleansing and maintenance to keep your pearly whites in tip top shape. Why stop at your teeth?

  3. One size does not fit all:  Everyone's skin type is different, with your own unique concerns, sensitivities, and needs. Developing a relationship with a skincare professional will help you to identify what works best for you in home care regimen, helping to you achieve and maintain your "best you". There are ton's of products on the market to clear up or improve your skin; but acne, redness, dryness, etc can all have multiple causes. Without a professional to help determine what your specific triggers are, these products are not necessarily going to help, and can actually even exacerbate problems. Using these products without understanding how they work, and will interact with your skin would be like attempting to prescribe yourself medications for an illness without a medical license.

  4. A little TLC goes a Long way
Facials are more economical than you think, and we offer them in a series which make them even a better value. For 4-6 weeks after a facial, your skin will appear radiant, resilient and even-toned. Not only does a facial help you look better, but that can play a significant role in helping you to feel better. Giving something back to yourself can help with improve your moods, stress level and overall sense of well being, helping to improve your interactions with friends, family and co-workers as well. All of these benefits combined should make taking care of your skin an easy decision.

  5. Less is sometimes more; more or less...; You might be asking, "why would I not just go to see a dermatologist"? There are certainly plenty of good reasons to visit a dermatologist or MD. But when it comes to skin care, there is usually a point in which over the counter products plateau, but prescription strength products are too strong for the skin with sometimes negative side effects. We as people sometimes tend to punish our skin for being bad with harsh medications or treatments, when often it really just needs a hug. Professional products are a great "middle of the road" approach being just strong enough, without overdoing it. Used properly in conjunction with a good home care routine and regular facials often resolves concerns that prior visits to a doctor did not.
